Landscapes and colors by Joan Ribas Ribas

The landscapes of Ibiza at the beginning and middle of the 20th century, sometimes without human figures and sometimes inhabited by peasant women dressed in the traditional way, are the main motif of the work of Joan Ribas Ribas. An example of this is the sixty watercolors and five drawings in black ink that the Island Council of Ibiza acquired in 2002 and the Ethnographic Museum of Ibiza wanted to highlight in a temporary exhibition in room B of the museum in 2017. In this exhibition we find both countryside and city landscapes, as well as rural churches, olive groves, and the streets of Marina and Sa Penya, as well as portraits of great beauty of decorated peasant women.
