Mariano Tur de Montis

Tur de Montis, Mariano (Ibiza 1904 – 1994)

Mariano Tur de Montis

He trained at the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi in Barcelona and extended his studies in Rome, Florence and Paris. He dedicated his whole life to painting, which means that his work is very extensive, highlighting still lifes, flowers, figures and female portraits. It is difficult to classify his paintings in a determined style; his painting is direct and is characterized by a particular plastic diction. He was a great collector of antiques and his house in Dalt Vila, known as Casa Tur or Can Llaneres, became a meeting place for artists and personalities.
