Erwin Broner

Broner, Erwin (Munich 1898 – 1971)

Erwin Broner

Renowned painter and architect, he was trained in different academies in Germany. He travelled through many European cities while running away from the danger he was in for being a Jew. It was here, in Eivissa, where he produced his best creations, both in painting and architecture. A large number of drawings, portraits, landscapes and oil paintings belonging to his early stages are preserved. Later, he began to combine coloured pencils and India ink in abstract style paintings until he got into collage, a technique that was a constant in his work. The artist was one of the founding members of the group Ibiza 59.
