Antoni Marí Ribas, Portmany

The artist, known as Portmany, found his means of expression in drawing. In the twenties he met Narcís Puget Viñas and Professor Manuel Sorà Bonet, who encouraged him to take it up as a career. The ink lines of his drawings are schematic and full of the expressiveness and energy that characterize the artist's strong and quick hand. His favourite themes were: Payesan women, carts and wagons pulled by horses or mules and boats from the port of Eivissa, among others.
