Puget Riquer, Narcís  (Ibiza 1916 — Barcelona 1983)

Narcís Puget Riquer

Son of the painter Narcís Puget Viñas, he learned to paint from outdoor outings with his father, and from classes he received at his father's academy. In 1932, he presented his first oil paintings, which were still closely linked at his father’s work.Later on, he studied at the Madrid Ceramics School where he came into contact with watercolour technique, becoming his own means of expression and drawing a distinction from his father. His work main motif is the island landscape, from Santa Eulària fields to the streets of Dalt Vila or sa Penya, and seascapes. Also, the portraits of his father and more than 300 preserved drawings, portraying the city, the countryside and the port, are worth mentioning. In 1982 the King of Spain awarded him with the Medal of Merit for Fine Arts. He took part of the Puget Group, established in 1962.
