He began studying Fine Arts at the Escuela de la Lonja in Barcelona, where he learned the oil technique when he was only fifteen years old. He traveled to Ibiza several times seeking inspiration for his work and in 1914 he presented a monographic exhibition called Iviça, in which he exhibited twenty-eight watercolors and nine oils dedicated to the island.
